Parapet Inspections NYC
A parapet inspection is a required annual assessment of the wall that extends above a building’s roofline. Mandated by NYC Local Law 126, this inspection helps identify hazardous conditions before they pose risks to the public.
All buildings with parapets fronting a public right-of-way must undergo this annual observation by a qualified professional, except for detached one- or two-family homes.
Owners must retain the report for six years and immediately correct any unsafe conditions. Before working with an engineer, we recommend performing a drone inspection to capture images and video that can identify potential issues before the formal inspection. You now have lifetime documented records that can be checked annually to assess any deterioration.
A drone inspection can be critical for preparing and budgeting for the necessary repairs.
